Before the lesson
Give learners page 1; use the suggested answers on page 2 after they have written and compared their own responses.
- Contrast a full sentence after For example with a noun example after such as or like.
- Write examples of English practice, snacks, city places, recycling and other categories.
- Read a general statement and its example to a partner, who checks whether the example really belongs to the category.
Support and extension
Provide category-to-example pairs for support. Extend with two examples and a short explanation. Especially highlights an item rather than always introducing a new example; accept suitable alternatives and avoid universal recycling claims.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
