Before the lesson
Use page 1 for learners and retain the suggested answers on page 2 until after independent responses.
- Sort phrases into acceptance, uncertainty and alternatives; contrast I'm not sure with a clear refusal.
- Write responses to the beach, cafe, taxi, horror film and other suggestions, adding a reason where useful.
- Act out one exchange and agree a replacement time or activity after a counterproposal.
Support and extension
Offer an accept/reason or prefer/alternative frame. Extend with a second suggestion. Personal preferences can be invented; many responses are possible and the key's invented commitments are not mandatory facts.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
