Before the lesson
Use both pages. Read the two model conversations before distributing the paired role cards; partners should see only their own instructions.
- Check how the model separates fuel from food and checks a machine payment before charging again.
- Practise pump four versus pump five, the failed car wash and the dashboard warning; verify the actual pump and item total.
- Summarise the corrected receipt or follow-up process, including who can assess a vehicle fault.
Support and extension
Use fictional receipts; the pump-four fuel plus two snacks totals 50 pounds. Extend by distinguishing pending and completed payments. A cashier should not diagnose a warning or recommend continuing to drive.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
