A simple way to teach it
Before the lesson
Print page 1 and keep page 2 for checking. Explain float as a decorated parade vehicle, not the verb meaning stay on water.
- Read the list and contrast costume with mask and parade with party.
- Locate all twelve targets in any direction, using the marked key only after partner comparison.
- Describe an imagined street scene using float, crowd, music and colour; identify what performers and spectators do.
Support and extension
Support with a simple parade sketch and selected targets. Extend with a sentence explaining what makes a crowd enjoyable or stressful. Carnival traditions differ by place; no costume or performance is required.
