Before the lesson
Choose a few relevant categories instead of teaching all 150 phrases at once. This is an A1-A2 reference resource, not a worksheet with a fixed answer key.
- Model a short exchange using one category, such as asking for repetition or introducing yourself. Identify suitable responses as well as opening phrases.
- Let pairs select phrases for a cafe, shop or travel situation. Practise a brief conversation with the reference visible.
- Repeat the conversation with fewer prompts and discuss which phrases made the exchange clearer. Review polite choices such as Could you repeat that?
Support and extension
Support with two-line frames. Extend across categories, combining a greeting, request and goodbye; use fictional personal details and avoid treating health phrases as medical advice.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
