Before the lesson
Use page 1 and keep the suggested answers on page 2 for feedback. Start with familiar examples such as architect, baker and chef.
- Fill familiar letters first, then compare with a partner. X-ray technician and yoga instructor are compound job titles; explain the job rather than assuming learners know each specialist term.
- Review spelling, the initial letter and topic relevance. The answer key provides suggestions; other appropriate words or phrases are valid.
- Ask learners to describe what two workers do or where they work.
Support and extension
Support with job pictures and allow any suitable occupation; extend with He / She works ... and simple workplace descriptions.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
