A simple way to teach it
Before the lesson
Give page 1 to learners and reserve the marked puzzle on page 2. Preview fast, sunset, mosque and charity; targets can run in any direction.
- Read the word list aloud and distinguish dates as a food from calendar dates.
- Find and mark all twelve targets, including Ramadan and Eid, comparing difficult locations before using the marked key.
- Group the words into food, people or places, and practices; make two short descriptions using found words.
Support and extension
Reduce the target list or give starting-letter hints. Extend by explaining the connection between sunset and a meal. Treat the activity as cultural vocabulary; do not ask learners to fast or speak for all Muslims.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
