Before the lesson
Use pages 1–2 and keep the teacher key on page 3 for feedback. Introduce decision and permission, checking meaning and pronunciation before the gap fill.
- Link decide → decision and discuss → discussion; treat question as an established vocabulary item, not proof that every noun ending in -tion is formed from a familiar verb.
- Complete the eight sentences using each vocabulary word once. Compare choices with a partner and explain the context clues before checking the key.
- Discuss travel information, useful discussions, education and permission. Use the five printed questions for pair discussion and short notes; responses are individual, not fixed-key answers.
Support and extension
Support with familiar collocations such as make a decision and ask permission; extend by sequencing a discussion that leads to a decision.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
