Before the lesson
Use pages 1–2 and keep the teacher key on page 3 for feedback. Introduce concession and cohesion, checking meaning and pronunciation before the gap fill.
- Notice that item 8 needs plural implications, as the instruction permits; distinguish negotiation from a concession made during it.
- Complete the eight sentences using each vocabulary word once. Compare choices with a partner and explain the context clues before checking the key.
- Discuss technological implications, changing perceptions, early intervention and team cohesion. Use the five printed questions for pair discussion and short notes; responses are individual, not fixed-key answers.
Support and extension
Support with a fictional negotiation scenario; extend by describing an agreement including a concession and its implications. Do not treat the legal or health examples as advice.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
