A simple way to teach it
Before the lesson
Give learners page 1 and retain the marked key. Preview valentine as a card or message and February as the month.
- Read the targets and separate gifts such as flowers and chocolate from feelings and qualities.
- Find the twelve words in any direction, checking complete spellings with a partner.
- Use card, message and kind to describe a friendly note; compare gifts that cost money with simple acts of care.
Support and extension
Offer a reduced list or starting-letter hints. Extend by writing a non-romantic message to an imaginary friend. Do not ask learners about relationships or require public exchanges of cards.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
