Before the lesson
Use the single page of 20 statements and board three response starters for agreement, disagreement and partial agreement.
- One partner reads a claim about holidays, uniforms or shopping and adds a brief reason.
- The listener responds to that reason, then gives their own example; swap roles with another statement.
- Repeat a disagreement with Maybe, but… and compare how the tone changes.
Support and extension
Allow learners to choose non-sensitive statements. Support with one reason per turn; extend by paraphrasing the partner first. Opinions vary and the sheet has no prescribed correct position.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
