Before the lesson
Use the one-page sheet of 20 prompts. Select a manageable subset and put two or three advice starters on the board.
- Model the exam or forgotten-homework prompt: explain the difficulty, offer a suggestion, then ask one follow-up.
- Take turns with selected prompts about friends, cooking, phone use or weekend boredom; respond to the advice rather than immediately changing cards.
- Repeat one problem using another pattern and explain which suggestion the speaker might try.
Support and extension
Allow fictional problems and skip weight, sleep or anxiety topics if unsuitable. Support with Why don't you…? and How about…?; extend by checking a constraint before giving advice. No printed answer key is required.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
