Before the lesson
Use both pages and private driver/attendant cards. Preview pump number, separate receipt and roadside assistance.
- Read the fuel-payment and car-wash models, noticing total checks and reference to the machine's own instructions.
- Role-play £36 fuel plus a £2 snack, choosing a wash within £8 and asking about a low tyre without assuming it is safe.
- Confirm the purchase or next source of help, swap roles and change one amount or request.
Support and extension
Offer a price chart for support; extend by explaining why the £9 wash exceeds the budget. All prices are fictional. Do not invent equipment steps, tyre pressures or advice to drive; the attendant is not a mechanic.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
