Before the lesson
Give pages 1–2 to learners and keep page 3 separate. Preview spectacle, float, rhythm and organise.
- Match the six words and identify performers, vehicles and spectators in the description.
- Read for when Carnival occurs in many countries, audience locations and transport, toilets, medical help and security; support the five answers with text.
- Discuss costumes as storytelling and public-space needs, then prepare the 120–150-word proposal including music, safety and one local idea.
Support and extension
Support with an event/features/services chart. Extend by justifying one planning decision from a resident's perspective. The worksheet describes varied events, not a complete practical safety plan.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
