Before the lesson
Use learner pages 1–2 and keep page 3 separate. Preview Jesus, cross, church and pray as cultural vocabulary.
- Match the six words and distinguish a place, a person and a symbol.
- Read the four paragraphs and answer the five questions in complete sentences, keeping Christian belief clearly attributed.
- Discuss symbols and special days, then write the assigned 5–6 sentences about a family or community occasion.
Support and extension
Provide paragraph numbers and sentence starters. Extend by explaining why a symbol matters to a community. No learner needs to disclose beliefs or pray; Easter's spring setting is qualified as applying in many countries.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
