Before the lesson
Give learners page 1 and keep the suggested answers on page 2. Preview resurrection, disciples and tomb and explain that each bank item is used once.
- Use the definition clues for Bible, cross and disciples, then distinguish church, service, worship and prayer.
- Check the suggested allocations of faith, hope and peace, discussing other grammatically and semantically valid choices in the broad final sentences.
- Choose a discussion prompt about new vocabulary, observed religious days or the purpose of symbols, without requiring personal belief statements.
Support and extension
Support with neutral definitions and collocations such as say a prayer. Extend with a short explanation of a symbol. Accept coherent alternatives in broad abstract-value items.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
