Before the lesson
Print pages 1–2; reserve the key on page 3. Clarify renewal, pastel and hunt before reading.
- Match the vocabulary and predict why eggs might symbolise new life.
- Read for the links between springtime, painted or chocolate eggs and an egg hunt; answer the five questions using the text.
- Discuss activities for children and adults, then outline the 120–150-word homework about a spring custom, seasonal food or outdoor activity.
Support and extension
Support with an egg-hunt sketch and a simple definition of pastel. Extend with a comparison of local seasonal customs. Easter falls in spring in many countries, not everywhere; participation is optional.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
