Before the lesson
Give page 1 to learners; keep page 2 for checking. Explain prayer service and a visit to relatives, and the use-once word bank.
- Read for context and word class, distinguishing clothes, sweets and gift from actions.
- Fill all twelve gaps and compare complete sentences; family and friends can fit some similar contexts, so check the whole bank rather than one gap alone.
- Discuss special clothes, family visits and what makes a festival welcoming, with examples from any familiar celebration.
Support and extension
Provide a noun/verb grouping for support. Extend by describing a welcoming celebration without assuming identical customs. Accept coherent alternatives that fit grammar, meaning and the use-once rule; no religious disclosure is necessary.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
