Before the lesson
Use page 1 and keep the suggested answers on page 2 for feedback. Start with familiar examples such as apple, bread and cheese.
- Fill familiar letters first, then compare with a partner. X may be left blank; the key includes both individual foods and dishes such as dumplings, quiche and udon.
- Review spelling, the initial letter and topic relevance. The answer key provides suggestions; other appropriate words or phrases are valid.
- Choose several foods and use I like ... or I don't like ... to describe preferences.
Support and extension
Support with food pictures and familiar regional dishes; extend by grouping answers into ingredients and prepared dishes. Accept suitable foods not in the key.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
