Before the lesson
Use page 1 and keep the suggested answers on page 2 for feedback. Start with familiar examples such as apple, banana and cherry.
- Fill familiar letters first, then compare with a partner. X may be left blank. The key includes less familiar produce such as ice apple, ugli fruit and yuzu; these are optional examples, not required beginner vocabulary.
- Review spelling, the initial letter and topic relevance. The answer key provides suggestions; other appropriate words or phrases are valid.
- Compare familiar produce and describe its colour, taste or typical use.
Support and extension
Support with accessible local produce and pictures; extend by making a short shopping list. Do not require obscure names merely to complete all letters.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
