Before the lesson
Print pages 1–2 and keep page 3 for checking. Clarify costume versus mask and candy as the word used here.
- Match the six words and name a possible costume without needing to wear one.
- Read for 31 October, who may dress up and how a pumpkin is decorated; locate evidence for each comprehension answer.
- Discuss party games and whether Halloween is popular locally, then prepare the 5–6-sentence homework about a party enjoyed or imagined.
Support and extension
Offer short answer stems and a simple pumpkin drawing. Extend by explaining a costume choice. Learners can avoid scary-film discussion; no carving, costumes or Halloween participation are necessary.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
