Before the lesson
Use the warm-up about a meal learners would like to cook. Match prepare, local, solution, reduce, improve and responsible; reserve page 3 for feedback.
- Read the three numbered paragraphs for the main change or problem, then reread for the people, actions and results.
- Locate expensive food, planning and safety lessons, Sunday practice and the changes after two months.
- Use the skills discussion to plan the 80–100-word paragraph about a useful skill and how to practise it; cooking is only one option.
Support and extension
Support with I want to learn… because… I can practise by… Rehearse answers in pairs before writing; accept accurate paraphrases and individual ideas. Extend by asking learners to compare a class with independent practice, without carrying out cooking tasks.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
