Before the lesson
Use the warm-up about problems in public parks. Match prepare, local, solution, reduce, improve and responsible; reserve page 3 for feedback.
- Read the three numbered paragraphs for the main change or problem, then reread for the people, actions and results.
- Find the litter problem, the first priority, the shop's contribution and the result. Separate council, shop and resident responsibilities.
- Discuss who keeps places clean, then outline the 80–100-word public-place proposal: problem, practical solution and people who could help.
Support and extension
Support with problem / action / helper Rehearse answers in pairs before writing; accept accurate paraphrases and individual ideas. Extend by asking learners to compare preventing litter with clearing it afterwards.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
