Before the lesson
Prepare page 1 and reserve the key. Review have versus has and distinguish a duration from a starting point.
- Model studying for three hours and working since January. Locate now as the reference point.
- Complete the 20 gaps, keeping been and checking running, feeling and growing. Notice repeated activity as well as uninterrupted duration.
- Check full sentences against page 2, then ask a How long question about an imagined activity.
Support and extension
Support with a for / since timeline. Extend by comparing duration with a completed result; do not assume every activity must still be happening at the moment of speaking.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
