Before the lesson
Hand out the two separate cards. Preview colleague, experiences and pack; model comparing buying an object with paying for an experience.
- Take turns answering the habit and colleague questions with an example rather than a list of adjectives alone.
- Develop the travel, technology and entertainment answers through a partner's follow-up: What makes it useful? or Why there?
- Conclude by describing a perfect evening and one realistic way to manage a busy week; personal disclosure is optional.
Support and extension
Support with comparison and reason frames. Extend by identifying a trade-off in spending or entertainment choices. Accept hypothetical travel answers; this discussion has no answer key.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
