Before the lesson
Give each partner one hidden card. Briefly clarify work-life balance and local community; set expectations for respectful disagreement.
- Alternate questions, asking for a reason and concrete example when defining success or a good balance.
- Connect related prompts across the cards: social media with online news, environmental concerns with waste, and travel with local tourism benefits.
- Choose one connection to revisit and ask partners to qualify an earlier view using depends on or in some cases.
Support and extension
Offer benefit/risk language as support. Extend with a counterexample or an affected group's perspective. Money questions need not reveal personal finances; there are no prescribed opinions or answer key.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
