A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Use both pages. Read the two model conversations before distributing the paired role cards; partners should see only their own instructions.

  1. Read the repair follow-up and poster message; distinguish the caller's earlier promise from the recorded callback request.
  2. Practise the missed callback, collection message and broken connection, checking Thursday at ten separately from Tuesday at two.
  3. End with the correct reference, availability and written confirmation or follow-up route.

Support and extension

Offer a message grid and let pairs sit back-to-back. Extend by deliberately mishearing one detail for correction. Use fictional contacts and do not guarantee an unconfirmed callback slot.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
