Before the lesson
Use page 1 and keep the suggested answers on page 2 for feedback. Start with familiar examples such as bus, car and train.
- Fill familiar letters first, then compare with a partner. The sheet permits difficult letters to stay blank. The key includes vehicles and broader ways of travelling, such as underground and zip line; clarify the category before marking.
- Review spelling, the initial letter and topic relevance. The answer key provides suggestions; other appropriate words or phrases are valid.
- Compare familiar transport using I go by ... where appropriate, or I use ... for forms that need a different expression.
Support and extension
Support with transport pictures; extend by planning an imagined journey with two modes. Accept suitable alternatives rather than assuming the key's blank letters can never have an answer.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
