Before the lesson
Print page 1 and retain page 2. Preview valentine, thoughtful and the use-once bank; clarify February in the date.
- Read all twelve sentences and distinguish a card, its message and a valentine.
- Fill the gaps and compare full sentences, including the flower and chocolate gift contexts.
- Discuss what makes a gift thoughtful and ways to show kindness to friends without spending money.
Support and extension
Offer word-class hints. Extend with a short invented friendly message. Flowers and chocolate can exchange places in their broad gift sentences if each is used once; do not demand romantic or personal disclosures.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
