A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Keep the page-3 key separate. Use the library visits warm-up, then match visit, early, busy, choose, helpful and enjoy on page 1.

  1. Read the three numbered paragraphs together, checking who and where before asking learners to find details independently.
  2. Locate the librarian, the two books and Leo's plan for next week; practise he in full-sentence answers.
  3. Discuss books and library services, then plan the 60–80-word paragraph about a book, film or story and why the learner enjoys it.

Support and extension

Support with It is about… I like it because… Allow oral rehearsal before writing and accept accurate paraphrases of the key. Extend by asking pairs to recommend a story to a partner with one reason.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
