Before the lesson
Use the single learner page in pairs. Personal or invented responses can vary; there is no fixed answer key.
- Track a new bookshop becoming the bookshop, then contrast the general statement about bookshops.
- Answer the recommendation prompts and describe an object, meal or film first as new information and then as identified information.
- Prepare a local recommendation that introduces a place, refers back to it and describes an activity people generally enjoy there.
Support and extension
Support singular countable nouns with a/an, choosing by sound. The can identify shared information without an earlier mention; general plural and uncountable nouns often take no article.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
