Before the lesson
Use the single learner page in pairs. Personal or invented answers can vary; there is no fixed answer key.
- Read the wrong-cinema model and establish checking, arriving and missing the film.
- Ask about preparation, expectations, achievements and changes before past events.
- Invent a problem caused by missing preparation, then explain the omission, problem and solution to a partner.
Support and extension
Draw two points on a timeline. Use had plus participle for the earlier event; return to past simple for subsequent events rather than making the whole account past perfect.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
