Before the lesson
Use both pages. Read the two model conversations before distributing the paired role cards; partners should see only their own instructions.
- Find the checks of kitchen availability and the receipt-backed drink replacement in the models.
- Use the kitchen-closing, wrong-drink and group-table cards; compare eight-minute sandwiches with twenty-minute pies and reserved-table limits.
- Read back the food, corrected drink and seating arrangement, explaining any remaining time restriction.
Support and extension
Use non-alcoholic orders throughout if appropriate. Support with an order checklist; extend by arranging two neighbouring tables for six. Fictional opening times and policies are not local pub rules.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
