Before the lesson
Use both pages. Read the two model conversations before distributing the paired role cards; partners should see only their own instructions.
- Notice why the server checks with the kitchen rather than assuming that removing sesame makes a dish suitable.
- Role-play the sesame enquiry, delayed meal and incorrect bill; compare the customer's deadline with preparation times.
- Read back the chosen meal and corrected charges, including what was cancelled or removed.
Support and extension
Provide order and bill notes. Extend with a follow-up question about timing. Practise allergy communication without declaring food safe; recipes and prices here are fictional.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
