A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Use the two model conversations and key-phrase lists on the single learner page; the final prompts are open-ended and need no fixed answer key.

  1. Read the chance meeting and identify the bus commitment, warm goodbye and possible later visit.
  2. Trace the phone call from successful submission to thanks, saved confirmation and closing.
  3. Choose a prompt and create a short exchange with two key phrases and a natural response to the goodbye.

Support and extension

Offer reason/appreciation/future contact notes. Extend by shortening the closing when the bus is arriving, without making future plans sound already fixed.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
