Before the lesson
Use the two model conversations and key-phrase lists on the single learner page; the final prompts are open-ended and need no fixed answer key.
- Read the restaurant model and identify cost and the birthday guest's preferences as separate concerns.
- Compare the early-travel exchange: recognise both avoiding rush and avoiding a long wait.
- Create a restaurant or event-timing dialogue with two key phrases and a practical alternative.
Support and extension
Provide acknowledge/concern/alternative notes. Extend by changing the budget or bus time so the response addresses a new constraint.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
