Before the lesson
Use the two model conversations and key-phrase lists on the single learner page; the final prompts are open-ended and need no fixed answer key.
- Read the dance-class exchange and find the reassurance about beginners, company and trying once.
- Discuss why asking about the reading-group role is different from committing to accept it.
- Choose a prompt and create an exchange with two key phrases, a worry and practical reassurance.
Support and extension
Supply worry/help/first step notes. Extend with a respectful refusal; phrases such as You have nothing to lose are encouragement, not guarantees.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
