Before the lesson
Give learners page 1 and keep the page 2 answer key separate. Its question forms are targets; personal answers are models, not required wording.
- Identify the rain condition and future response in the example.
- Complete A about a late bus, free afternoon, lost phone and worsening weather; explain the unless question as if the weather does not get worse.
- Reorder B's cancelled train, early finish and walking questions, then ask a partner for a backup plan.
Support and extension
Use present forms in these if/unless clauses and will + base verb in the target result clauses. Avoid adding an unnecessary negative after unless; personal plans may be invented.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
