Before the lesson
Use the single learner page in pairs. Personal or invented answers can vary; there is no fixed answer key.
- Read the match/flooded-pitch model and explain the condition that would stop the plan.
- Discuss weather, cancellations, courses, help and transport, then identify limits using unless where suitable.
- Plan an outdoor event with a main plan and two backups; respond to one additional partner problem.
Support and extension
Unless means if not, so preserve the intended negative logic. Results may use can as well as will; ask what happens if the first backup fails.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
