Before the lesson
Use the single learner page in pairs. Personal or invented responses can vary; there is no fixed answer key.
- Compare remembering to lock the door with remembering turning the key.
- Discuss duties and memories, then contrast stopping an activity with stopping to rest and trying a method with trying to achieve a goal.
- Solve a recurring problem by explaining a failed attempt, a method to try and a duty to remember; agree a workable plan.
Support and extension
Ask learners to explain the meaning before choosing a form. Try doing and try to do can overlap in context, so avoid treating every example as an absolute either/or rule.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
