Before the lesson
Give both pages and private cards. Preview toothache, estimate, aftercare and taking a break; keep all cases fictional.
- Read the toothache and next-step models, noticing the patient's questions about options, costs and pauses.
- Role-play a routine check-up booking, clarification of aftercare and a damaged-tooth call; the clinical team assesses treatment and urgency.
- Confirm the appointment or route to written information, then swap roles and repeat with a new question.
Support and extension
Support with appointment-time choices and request stems. Extend by checking the patient's understanding. This is not dental advice: do not invent aftercare rules, doses, waiting times or reassurance that delaying care is safe.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
