A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Print both pages and keep customer/clerk cards separate. Preview tracking, recipient, held for collection and estimated delivery.

  1. Read the birthday-parcel and delivery-check models, noticing that estimates differ from guarantees.
  2. Role-play the important letter, missing parcel and box for a book and mug; compare deadline, budget, tracking and wrapping space.
  3. Confirm the service, collection next step or packaging total, then swap roles and alter one detail.

Support and extension

Give A2 learners a price/time chart and question stems; extend with a reason for the final choice. The £4 medium box plus £1 tape fits the £6 packaging budget. All delivery times are fictional estimates, not promises.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
