Before the lesson
Use the two model conversations and phrase lists on the learner page. The final dialogue prompts are open-ended, with no fixed answer key.
- Compare taking garden photos with picking flowers, and borrowing a bike with lending it to a younger brother.
- Identify permission, conditions and refusal in each model; check how the listener responds.
- Develop a final prompt into a dialogue using two key phrases and a respectful follow-up.
Support and extension
Supply Yes, but… and Sorry, you can't… frames. Extend with a safe alternative rather than arguing after a refusal.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
