A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Use the two model conversations and phrase lists on the learner page. The final dialogue prompts are open-ended, with no fixed answer key.

  1. Read the bags exchange and notice that one item can be accepted while another is managed independently.
  2. Follow the guest preparations and identify useful offers and declined help.
  3. Role-play a final prompt using two phrases and a clear acceptance or refusal.

Support and extension

Offer action/item cards. Extend with a short reason after declining, without treating refusal as rude.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
