Before the lesson
Use both pages and private customer/bartender cards. All drinks in the tasks are non-alcoholic; preview without ice and kitchen closing time.
- Read the two-drink and food-enquiry models, noticing checks of size, timing and payment.
- Role-play ordering for two within £7, choosing vegetarian food within a time limit and replacing cola with the requested lemonade.
- Confirm which drink has no ice, the total or the corrected order; swap roles and change one preference.
Support and extension
Provide a short drinks-and-food price list. Extend with a reason why a dish's waiting time matters. The setting can be changed to a café if preferred; no alcohol discussion is needed and all service details are fictional.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
