Before the lesson
Give both pages and separate the customer/server cards. Preview vegetarian, itemised receipt and checking with the kitchen.
- Read the lunch and wrong-order models, identifying how the speakers check waiting time and offer a solution.
- Role-play a meal within a £15 budget, an allergy enquiry requiring kitchen confirmation and a bill with an extra juice; read only your own card.
- Confirm the chosen order or corrected bill, then swap roles and change one detail.
Support and extension
Support with a short menu and request stems; extend with follow-up questions about cost and timing. Treat prices as fictional. In the allergy task, do not guess ingredients or guarantee safety: the card requires checking with the kitchen.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
