Before the lesson
Use the single learner page in pairs. Personal or imagined answers can vary; there is no fixed answer key.
- Read the lunch model and compare making lunch with a cousin staying this week.
- Ask the right-now and around-now questions, keeping am/is/are in each continuous form.
- Role-play a phone call from a busy cafe with three imagined people and follow-up questions.
Support and extension
Provide person/action notes. Extend with a park or station scene; label guesses about absent people as guesses.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
