Before the lesson
Give partners cards 5A and 5B. Preview wellbeing and long-term plan; model a qualified claim about a useful technology.
- Exchange questions, explaining the criteria used to call a technology beneficial or a tradition worth preserving.
- Connect education and future generations with lifelong priorities; ask for an example that complicates a strong claim.
- Finish by discussing a welcoming public space and respectful disagreement, linking personal freedom to the effect on others.
Support and extension
Offer concession phrases as support. Extend by synthesising a shared principle from two different answers. Personal health or future plans may remain hypothetical; open discussion has no answer key.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
