Before the lesson
Separate cards 3A and 3B. Clarify attention as a commodity and care work, without reducing care to unpaid work only.
- Partners alternate questions and explain where a personal choice becomes a wider ethical issue.
- Connect faster communication with efficiency and attention, then AI with what society values in work; invite a counterexample.
- Close by comparing higher education's aims with curiosity and pressure at school, or proposing a fairer way to recognise care.
Support and extension
Support by choosing one concrete scenario before generalising. Extend by identifying a trade-off the speaker's proposal does not solve. Discuss AI hypothetically rather than as a prediction of fact; no answer key is required.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
