Before the lesson
Use the single learner page in pairs. Personal or invented responses can vary; there is no fixed answer key.
- Use the sold-out exhibition exchange to identify the real past facts before imagining earlier booking.
- Discuss missed messages, travel, help and weather alternatives; state what happened before proposing a different result.
- Change one past decision and suggest two likely results and one less certain result, then choose the better alternative.
Support and extension
Provide if + had + past participle and would/could/might have + past participle frames. Use invented situations if personal regrets feel uncomfortable.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
